Multiprofessional team approach

A dedicated multi-professional team approach of all involved occupations is necessary to achieve the best possible level of participation in daily life of neurologically affected patients. Frequent interdisciplinary discussions and information exchange stimulate the collaboration among professions and enable defining individual therapeutic goals to achieve the best possible outcome of each patient.

A particular competence in our department is the management of tracheal cannulas. Fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing is always available whenever deemed necessary. In addition, patients with tracheal cannulas are continuously monitored by the nursing staff and are closely followed by specially trained speech and swallowing therapists. This dedicated framework sets the stage for successful cannula weaning management.
