Center of reference for neurogenic swallowing disorders and tracheostomy tube management

Swallowing disorders commonly generate substantial impairment in quality of life. Numerous patients suffering from neurologic diseases for instance stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI) and multiple sclerosis (MS), are more or less severely affected by swallowing difficulties (dysphagia). Unrecognised and suboptimal treatment of dysphagia may result in severe intricacies such as pneumonia (so-called aspiration pneumonia) potentially giving rise to a life-threatening condition. Our expertise is targeting on realisation of early diagnosis and appropriate treatment of neurogenic swallowing disorders as well as on tracheostomy tube management and weaning from tracheostomy tube.
